Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST) is a multidisciplinary university that primarily focuses on engineering, science, literature, economics, management, medicine, law, art, and education. It is a key university directly affiliated to Shandong Province and a preeminent featured university for developing professional talents approved by the Shandong provincial government.
Furthermore, it is evaluated as an “outstanding university for its undergraduate education” and a “national top university in its practice of the employment of graduates” by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and praised as “Huangpu Military Academy of China Rubber Industry” by the society.
QUST now has four campuses in Laoshan, Sifang, Gaomi, and Jinan, with a total floor area of 920,000㎡school buildings and fixed assets of 2.8 billion yuan. Its library has a collection of over 3 million books and magazines.
Shenyang Advanced Vocational School, the predecessor of QUST, was founded in 1950 and moved to Qingdao in 1956. In 1958, the school upgraded into the Shandong Institute of Chemical Engineering under the approval of the People’s Government of Shandong Province and began to conduct formal higher education.
Then, it was renamed Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology under the approval of the MOE in 1984. In 1998, the institution was handed over to Shandong Province by the Ministry of Chemistry (MCI).
In 2002, approved by MOE, the school was finally renamed Qingdao University of Science and Technology after merging with Qingdao Arts and Crafts School in 2001. In 2009, Gaomi Campus started operation. In 2016, QUST combined with the Chemical Technology Academy of Shandong Province, composing a new chapter of its development.

Qualifications of applicants
Qingdao University of Science and Technology’s Qualifications of applicants:
1. The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen and be in good health;
2. Applicant’s educational background and age requirements: Applicants for master’s scholarships must have a bachelor’s degree or above and be under the age of 45; applicants for undergraduate scholarships must have a high school degree or above and be under the age of 40.
Language of instruction
All majors are taught in Chinese. Those students whose Chinese proficiency does not meet the learning requirements are not allowed to enter the major study.
Scholarship content
Qingdao University of Science and Technology’s Scholarship content:
Undergraduate and Graduate
1. No registration fee;
2. Students enrolled in the first year are exempted from tuition fees;
3. From the second year to graduation, those who pass the review will receive a scholarship of 5,000 yuan per year;
4. Provide comprehensive medical insurance for international students in China (excluding daily outpatient expenses);
Language student
1. No registration fee;
2. Students enrolled in the first semester can receive a scholarship of 5,000 yuan;
3. In the second semester, those who pass the review can get a scholarship of 5,000 yuan;
4. Provide comprehensive medical insurance for international students in China (excluding daily outpatient expenses);
Scholarship application materials
Qingdao University of Science and Technology’s Scholarship application materials:
Applicants are requested to submit the following materials by mail or directly to the International Exchange and Cooperation Office of Qingdao University of Science and Technology before the deadline, in duplicate:
1. The Qingdao University of Science and Technology “Qingdao Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students in China” application form can be downloaded from the following website: (Qingdao Government Scholarship Application Form);
2. A copy of the highest degree certificate and transcript (translated into Chinese or English);
3. A copy of the Chinese Proficiency Test (New HSK) score;
4. Copy of passport;
5. Personal resume (written in Chinese or English);
6. Study and research plan in China. Applicants can write their study or research plans in China in Chinese or English;
7. Letter of Guarantee (guarantee to abide by Chinese laws and regulations during the period in China, and not to engage in any activities that endanger the social order in China and are inconsistent with my study status in China), written in Chinese or English;
8. Applicants for postgraduate scholarships are also required to submit two recommendation letters (written in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors;
9. Students applying for music majors must submit CDs of their own works; students applying for art majors must provide CDs of their own works (2 sketches, 2 color paintings, 2 other works).
Admission and notification
Qingdao University of Science and Technology will send the Admission Notice and the Visa Application Form for Studying in China (JW202 Form) to the students themselves.
Note:
Winners of the Qingdao Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students in China are required to participate in the annual scholarship review. Only those who pass the review will be awarded the scholarship for the next academic year.
