Qingdao University is situated in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, which is a famous tourist destination and leisure city of China . It was founded in 1909 and now is one of the key universities in China.

In 1993, Qingdao University became even more versatile when it was merged with three other major universities. It has a wide range of disciplines and is accredited to grant Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees.

As one of the 50 Universities approved the qualification of enrolling international students by Ministry of Education, Qingdao University started enrollment of international students from 1987. Qingdao University was approved as HSK test center by Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in 1997.

QU was authorized as The Demonstration Education Base of Study in China by MOE in 2014 and was authorized as one of 27 universities which is in conformity with the International students Education standard in China. In 2016, over 1600 international students from 61 countries come to study at Qingdao University.

I. School of Economics

The School of Economics, Qingdao University was established in 2000. Its predecessor was the Department of Finance and Monetary Economics, established in 1992.

The School of Economics consists of six academic departments at present, Department of Economics, Department of Public Finance, Department of Finance, Department of Insurance, Department of Statistics, and Department of International Economy & Trade, offering seven undergraduate majors, Economics, Finance, Finance Engineering, Public Finance, Insurance, Economic Statistics and International  Economics & Trade.

We offer 3 doctorate programs, Applied Economics (1st level discipline), Financial Engineering and Risk Management (discipline field), and Complexity of Economic and Financial Systems (discipline field), in the School of Economics.

The economics discipline offers both of the two level 1 mastery degrees:

theoretical economics and applied economics, including 2nd level disciplines as Finance (including Insurance), Public Finance, Regional Economics, Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Industrial Economics, International Trade, Population Resources and Environmental Economics, Western Economics, World Economics, Political Economics, as well as tree professional master programs (Finance, Insurance and Statistics), thus completing the academic structure.

Among the Master and Doctoral Programs, the finance discipline was “the 9th. Five-Year” key disciplines of Shandong Province, “the 11th.

The Population Resources and Environmental Economics is “the 12th.

Five-Year” key disciplines and “Taisan Scholar” Special-appointed Professor Post of Shandong Province.

The Finance major is Shandong provincial Brand and Featured major. International Economics & Trade, Economics and Statistics are Brand and Featured majors of Qingdao University.

The School of Economics has two research bases in humanities and social sciences sponsored by Shandong Province, Research Base of Word Economy, Research Center for Blue Economy and Sustainable Development.

The School of Economics owns a national experimental teaching demonstration center (the Liberal Arts Experimental Teaching Center of Qingdao University) and several high-level professional laboratories.

The faculty of the School of Economics counts around 100 persons, among whom, more than 90 are full-time teachers, and 80 percent with Ph.D. There are 18 professors, 31 associate professors, 14 doctoral tutors, and 36 Master Instructors in the School of Economics.

III. Application Information

Application Period: April 1st to May 20th every year

6.Certificate of English proficiency

• Applicants with English as native language are exempted from English language certificate.
• Applicants from non-English speaking countries must provide IELTS (6.5 or above), new TOEFL (90 points or above) or other comparable certification of English proficiency.
• Applicants who have obtained their highest degree with English as the medium of instruction are exempted from providing language proficiency certification, but proof indicating the language medium is required.

7.Recommendation letters from two associate professors, experts, or scholars with equal title.

*All documents mentioned above should be written in Chinese or English and should be an original or notarized copy.

IV. Living Environment

Students are expected to live in the International Students Dormitory, where single and double rooms are available. Every room is equipped with central heating facilities. Rooms have private shower baths and toilets; all rooms are installed with air-conditioners. Shared kitchens and washing machines are also accessible to students in the dormitory.

The University campuses enjoy tranquil and convenient surroundings. All kinds of daily necessities are available in off-campus supermarkets at low prices. Post offices and banks are near the main gate of each campus. City bus routes connect all campuses with the downtown area, scenic spots, and the train station.

1. This fee structure will be used from the beginning of study until graduation.

2. All the fees should be paid in Chinese currency (RMB)

3. The tuition fee and all other fees must be paid in cash. 

4. There can be no refunds available (for fees of any kind) if requested for personal reasons during the period of study at our university.

V. Scholarship

Shandong Provincial Scholarship can be applied for this program. Shandong Provincial Government provides full coverage tuition fee, on-campus accommodation fee and comprehensive medical insurance expenses. Shandong Provincial Scholarship application form is needed extra.
